Everything You Need to Know About the UAE Newborn Resident Visa

Securing a newborn resident visa in the UAE is an essential step for parents looking to ensure their child’s legal residency. The process requires specific documents, adherence to timelines, and a clear understanding of the regulations. Alif Global is here to handle the entire process for you—from document attestation, passport application to residency & Emirates id application—ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience.

Required Documents for the Newborn Residency Visa

To successfully apply for your newborn’s resident visa, the following documents are required:

1. Sponsor’s Documents

  • Emirates ID – A valid Emirates ID of the sponsor (father or mother).
  • Passport Copy – A clear copy of the sponsor’s passport.
  • Residence Visa Copy – A valid UAE residence visa of the sponsor.
  • Salary Certificate or Partnership Contract
    • Employees: Minimum salary of AED 4,000 or AED 3,000 + accommodation (as per labour contract).
    • Investors/Partners: Valid partnership contract is required.

2. No Objection Certificate (NOC)

  • If the mother is sponsoring the child, a NOC from the father is required.
  • This NOC must be attested by Dubai Court. (Alif Global offers Dubai Court attestation services for NOCs.)

3. Baby’s Documents

  • Passport Copy – First, you must apply for the baby’s passport. To do this:
    • The English birth certificate issued in the UAE must be attested by MOFA.
    • Note: Many parents mistakenly attest the Arabic birth certificate. However, MOFA attestation is required for the English version for passport issuance.
  • Birth Certificate – A valid birth certificate attested by MOFA is mandatory.
  • Passport-Size Photograph – Required for the visa application.

Important Timelines & Fines

  • Visa Application Deadline: The newborn’s visa must be applied for within 120 days from the birth date. Failure to do so results in a fine of AED 50 per day.
  • Additional Fines:
    • If the visa application is submitted on time but the Emirates ID application is delayed, additional fines apply.
